Cape Point Nature Trip

The Day can be described as a "Cape Town Safari" as it aims to give guests an appreciation for the Biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. A full day will be spent in Cape Point, before ending off at the Boulders Beach Penguin colony. 

Hike: The day will start with a hike in Cape Point to appreciate some of the beautiful scenery often overlooked by most visitors. The Hike will focus on the Biodiversity on offer with a focus on the fynbos and birds. The hike will take place in an area frequented by Eland and Bontebok so we hope to see them too. Cape Point has a rich history and some of that will also be discussed along the way.

Cape of Good Hope - After the hike we will visit to the Cape Point Lighthouses, The most South-Westerly point on the African Continent - Cape of Good Hope. Lunch will be taken at the Two Oceans Restaurant which offers beautiful views and delicious food. After lunch we will drive to some of the Historic Monuments, located along beautiful beaches. We will also drive around to locate other Wildlife. Cape Point can not offer the typical South African Safari experience, but there are a number of large Mammals occurring here that are adapted to the Fynbos environment so the day is aimed at spotting some of them. 

Simon's Town - The day will end off at the Boulders Beach African Penguin colony to view these Endangered Birds in their most scenic habitat.

False Bay Nature Reserve

Declared as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance in 2015 this Reserve offers truly exceptional birding. Most of the time will be spent at the Strandfontein Birding Section of the Reserve which is situated in the local sewage works. There are a number of pans to navigate in search of a variety of water birds. Some of the species you can expect to see are Flamingo, Glossy Ibis, Pelican, Marsh harrier, Three banded plover, Southern Pochard, Red-billed duck, Little stint and many more.

False Bay Nature Reserve and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

The day will be split between the Strandfontein Birding Section of False Bay Nature Reserve, a Ramsar Site of International Importance, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. The Strandfontein Birding area offers the opportunity to spot a variety of water bird species, whilst Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens offers more of the fynbos species like Cape Sugarbird, Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cinnamon Dove, Rameron Pigeon, Cape Robin-Chat to name a few.

The Cape Winelands is one of the most scenic places to in South Africa. The green vineyards are surrounded by even greener mountains. Some of the first settlers in Cape Town were wine farmers and the area is filled with beautiful Architecture and Vineyards. Cape Town and the local Winelands have also become a popular area for the establishment of micro breweries, so if you prefer beer to wine or you would like to taste some of the best beer available in Cape Town, the wine tasting experiences can be substituted for beer tasting without losing the spectacular views.
